OSU Sports Medicine has been providing athletic trainer and team physicians to the Columbus City Schools since 2006. Julie Hall AT and Tom Evans AT have worked with Columbus high schools since 2005. Julie is responsible for Marion-Franklin, Africentric and Independence High Schools and Tom works with the athletes at Brookhaven and Mifflin High Schools.
Since 2010 OSU Sports Medicine added five more athletic trainers for Columbus City Schools. Joe Choe AT covers East and South High Schools. Molly Eltrich AT works with athletes at Briggs and West High Schools, Steve Rose AT cares for athletes at Northland and Beechcroft High Schools, Doug Baker AT ist at Centennial and Whetstone High Schools and Will Stephens AT covers Walnut Ridge High School and Eastmoor Academy.
Dr Luis Salazar is the team physician overseeing OSU Sports Medicine’s involvement with 14 Columbus City Schools. OSU Sports Medicine also provides four physicians from the sports medicine fellowship program to work as team physicians for the Columbus City Schools. Sports physicals and coach educational programs are routinely provided to the high school athletes and sports staff.
Tamerah Hunt AT, PhD has been working with the schools nurses and psychologists on mild traumatic brain injuries/concussions since 2009.
The OSU Sports Medicine Program for Performings Arts Medicine began providing workshops to the performing artist at Fort Hayes High School in 2010.
